Christmas Day

This year on Christmas morning it was just us! That is unusual because we are usually either with mine or Travis' family on Christmas morning. This year we went with my family on vacation right after Christmas to Nauvoo, so Travis had to work on Christmas day so that he could take off the whole next week for our vacation. We sitll had a great morning opening up all the gifts that we got for eachother and the gifts that Travis' parents had sent us. Here are some pictures of our Christmas morning 2008!

Travis had to find his stocking. I hid it under the couch pillows : )

Christmas Eve

On Christmas Eve we were on our own in La Quinta because Travis had to work on Christmas day so we were not going to be heading out to my family's house until the day after Christmas. That night it was a little rainy but the temperature was perfect, so we threw on our jackets and headed out to Cathedral City to walk down Candy Cane Lane. It was super fun, there were tons of people and the lights were really cool. We had a great night just spending time together.

Some pictures of our Christmas decorations.

My mom and sister came out for the night and we made Christmas candy together. Travis even helped. We made Chocolate covered pretzels dipped in peppermint and fudge. We had tons and so we took some over to Loves for a Christmas treat, they were really yummy!

Ginger Bread

We had a fun night with Taylor and Shannon. They came out from Blythe to build gingerbread houses. We had tons of candy and barely used any of it, we had soooooo many left overs. It was SUPER hard to keep the houses standing and together. We started getting frustrated and just started throwing the houses together any way they would stand up. The guys were troopers and actually made their own houses. We made a huge mess and had lots of laughs, here are some photos from our night...

Making the frosting.

Getting the frosting in the bags was very interesting.

Shopping for a Christmas tree!

I am usually the kind of person that is so on top of things around the holidays. I have all my decorations up on time or early and this year I am sooooo far behind. Anyway, we usually get our Christmas tree right after Thanksgiving but this year we were about a week late. We made our usual trip to Home Depot and picked out a tree that was still wrapped up! That's right, we didn't even see what the width of the tree was like, how full the branches were, or what the branches even looked like. We were totally going on faith that it would be an awesome tree, and it was. It is a pretty good looking little tree.

Needless to say I am now finally done decorating, getting the tree up and am pretty close to being done getting all the family gifts together that we need this year. I still haven't gotten any stocking stuffers or any of Travis' gifts yet though! Ahhhh, I better hurry! Oh yeah, and I still need to get my Christmas cards out! I usually have them out the first week of December, what is wrong with me this year!!

Oh well, here are some pictures of our tree shopping.

I made Travis climb all the way to the back to get our tree,
I make him do that every year. He loves it! Ha!

Too bright!

Us in the tree lot of Home Depot

This is the first year that we didn't have access to a truck so we had to strap it down on the roof of our car. Travis did a great job of tying it down and he made us turn on our hazard lights the whole way home while going about 25mph all the way! It was quite the adventure!

Getting the tree in the stand.

Freddie, inspecting the tree! He has been doing a great job so far this year, he has not once knocked it over or knocked any ornaments off. He just likes to sleep or hide under it, so does Darko, so cute!
